David B. Rivkin Jr., Baker & Hostetler LLP,
Washington, DC Following the Supreme Court’s 2015
decision in Obergefell v. Hodges in
which the Court first acknowledged a
fundamental right under the Fourteenth
Amendment to marriage equality, several
states and municipalities have enacted laws
and ordinances protecting the free exercise
of religious beliefs that oppose same-sex
marriage. The First Amendment Defense
Act (FADA), as well as contemplated
executive orders, have since followed
and threaten to protect anti-LGBTQ
discrimination if predicted upon particular
religious beliefs or moral convictions. With
inevitable implications on employment
practices, a sound understanding of the
constitutional principles underlying this
issue will assist practitioners addressing
these issues in the workplace. Join these
constitutional mavens as they acquaint
attendees to the purported constitutional
conflict and discuss its impact in the
employment setting. | | MP3 | | $18.00 | | $18.00 | |
